Notion's strength is its flexibility and its ecosystem. With over 30,000 community templates and native AI features now integrated throughout the product, it's become the default choice for startups and creative teams.
What's improved: Notion AI can now generate entire databases from natural language prompts. The new Charts feature turns database views into visual dashboards without any add-ons.
Still limited: Notion's formula language remains less powerful than Coda's for complex calculations. If you need a spreadsheet that thinks, Coda still wins.
Coda in 2026
Coda has doubled down on what it does uniquely well: treating documents as applications. Its formula engine is closer to Excel than Notion's, and its Packs (integrations) allow Coda docs to pull live data from external tools and act on it.
What's improved: Coda AI can now write and edit Packs, dramatically lowering the barrier to building custom integrations.
Still limited: Coda's template library and community are a fraction of Notion's size. Onboarding a new team member is harder.
